The Swedish goalkeeper spent two successful seasons with FC Barcelona Handbol from 2010-2012, arriving from SG Flensburg-Handewitt as the successor to club legend David Barrufet. During his time in Catalonia he helped Barça win the EHF Champions League (2011) and two Liga ASOBAL titles (2011, 2012)
After leaving Barcelona he continued his career across Europe with clubs including Aalborg Håndbold, THW Kiel, MT Melsungen and Bjerringbro-Silkeborg.
Internationally, Sjöstrand earned around 90 caps for Sweden men's national handball team and was part of the squad that won Olympic silver at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
